The region of Bessin au Virois is situated in Normandy to the west of the regional capital (Caen). It stretches from the famous Landing Beaches (Omaha Beach, Juno Beach, Gold Beach ) up to Vire and includes Bayeux.

On this Website you will discover the different facets of our region steeped in history, well preserved and well-known for its lifestyle. Equally, looking towards the future there is a strong commitment in favour of developing renewable energy.

Due to its rich history, the Bessin au Virois is open to international exchanges. There are seventy six towns twinned with countries such as Germany, England, Poland, Holland, Denmark, Canada, Japan, Spain ....
Other unusual exchanges also illustrate this ongoing enthusiasm.
To name a few..
The Norwegian section of the Lycée Alain Chartier of Bayeux welcomes students from the age of 15-19 years old.
The festival «Printemps Balkanique (The Balkan Spring) takes place every two years.
In Bayeux each year, the Bayeux Calvados Award for war reporters, brings together newspaper, TV, and radio reporters from all around the world.
French /English exchanges continue to develop in the heart of the region as the British community grows.
